Under the leadership of Rabbi Avram and Ruth Rothman, the Aish Thornhill Community Shul, located in the Dan Family Centre at 949 Clark Avenue West in Thornhill, has become a vibrant and active community.

With the Rabbi’s guidance and the talented assistance of many community leaders, a strong, tightly knit and caring community has developed. Yet, as close as the ever-growing membership is, the TCS is known as a welcoming open and friendly location for anyone entering its doors.

As a community that celebrates its diversity, the speakers, teachers, classes and membership represent the myriad of approaches to Torah found within the broad framework of Jewish practice. This “unity through diversity” allows community members of all backgrounds and observance levels to feel a welcome part of the group and find that perfect niche within the broad Torah world. With mutual respect, community members learn, grow, share, celebrate and experience the many parts of the prism of a Torah life.

With the understanding that community is the foundation of the Shul, it is the striving for personal growth that is the centre of the TCS and its Ginzburg Learning Centre. The Ginzburg Learning Centre offers over fifty classes weekly exposing students to all aspects of Jewish thought, practice and text.

Guest speakers, daily prayer services, three Shabbat services and over eighteen classes offered on Shabbat alone make the TCS’s schedule quite full. Youth programming, an active Sisterhood, a thriving Brotherhood and a flourishing Chesed Committee round out the Shuls’ many inspiring activities.

Walking into the TCS is like returning home, even on one’s first visit. The warmth of the Rabbi, the genuine care of the community and the accepting environment is the catalyst to its increasing success.

With an ever growing membership, the TCS is home to a large number of young families, as well as singles, middle aged and senior members. The Aish Thornhill Community Shul is a wonderful example of the Aish mission in action.
